:.Attack of the Red Rice.:

I’m stoked, from next week it’s gonna be all about the red rice. No, this isn’t some kind of commie invasion, but a taste sensation that has flowed from my wife’s side of the family into my culinary repertoire; a staple dish from the area of South Carolina called the Low Country. The basic breakdown is: long grain rice, tomatoes, bacon, onion, stock and garlic. There are a few variations and everybody makes it to there own pleasing. Last night I added paprika and a smokey chile grind. Next time I’ll buy even more smokey bacon and rip the lid off that last version. No doubt, I’ll be eating great gobs of the stuff in restaurants and with the family. Each slightly different, but all made with love and heritage deeply intertwined.

This post also stands as announcement that I will be reporting from across the pond. Exploring the flavoursome goings-on, in and around Kansas City and the South Carolina area. Expect daily reports and photographic documentation. I’m not saying that I will be rocking out an anthropological report on the situation, but I will do my best to wax lyrical on what I see and eat.
