Simple In Sweden

After a monster meal at Geranium, Denmark had proved its culinary metal. Across the bridge in Sweden, it was time to go back to some simple fare:

In Sweden you have the option of mashed potatoes with your sausage. Yes you see that sausage, a really stunner wouldn’t you say? But, the king of kings here, is the räksallad(the big white/pink goop in the pic). A shrimp and mayo combo, that brings the hot dog concept to whole other level. Mine had been boosted with the inclusion of cod roe. Shrimp and pork is a win win situation; Smokey meat and cool crustaceans, the mash being the mediator between these two different lifeforms.

The heady scent of saffron preceded the plonking down of this dish. Large chunks of cod rose above the soup line, underneath the surface – crayfish rested. Can something this full of cognac and cream come across so delicate? My rough outlook on my stomach’s desires cannot decide.

As I said in a previous post “Denmark smells like hotdogs“.
Well, it turns out, Sweden smells like cinnamon buns.
