Night Beigel

Beers sunk in the city, the long ride home to the east made easier by a pit stop in Brick Lane to re-charge at ‘Brick Lane Beigel Bake’.  The salt beef wonder over-filled, gripped tight in my gloved hand. Pushing off, cruising speed reached, meal time.

One brake functionality during the delicate evening eating event. Danger taking a backseat to the thrill of the taste. Darkness a cool rush, the food a source of sobriety, warmth and fuel. The majestic pickle, a refreshing bite amongst the salty beef, jumps ship and bounces of my knee. Lost to the night and the speed of the bike. Another bite this time, more desperate for fear of losing anything else. Mustard kick, salt lick, the bread neutralizes the hit, soothes the rough taste profiles, rounds the edges, keeps it all contained. The finest rider friendly meal. Nearly at the Bow Flyover. Food finished, ready for a quick climb over the A12 and on home. Content, the night a little brighter.
